SUMMARY:Anchored Within Series
DESCRIPTION:Learn more about your nervous system in this 4-week experiential Anchored Within Series \nOur autonomic nervous system operates largely outside of our conscious awareness. It constantly scans for cues of safety or danger and shapes how we respond to the world around us moment to moment\, regulating our heart rate\, breath\, digestion\, mood\, and capacity for connection — often before we have words for what we’re feeling. \nIn this experiential four-week series inspired by the book Anchored: How to Befriend Your Nervous System Using Polyvagal Theory we’ll engage in mindfulness\, creative reflection to strengthen our understanding of our different nervous system states that move us toward connection\, activation\, or withdrawal and explore gentle movements through yoga\, breath work\, and meditation practices that support regulation\, resilience\, and inner steadiness. \nIt is highly encouraged to sign up for all 4 weeks\, but drop-ins are welcome. \n\nMark Your Calendar\nDates: Fridays – \n\nMay: 5/1\, 5/8\, 5/15\, 5/22\nJune: 6/5\, 6/12\, 6/19\, 6/26\n\nTime: 12:15 – 1:45 PM \nCost: $49 per session \nWhat to Bring: A journal and your favorite drawing tool (e.g.\, pencil/pen\, color pencils\, and/or markers) are recommended but not required. Art supplies for creative reflection will be provided. \n\nMeet Deborah\n \nDeborah Burke has completed her 200-hour\, 500-hour advanced yoga\, and 20-hour Love Your Brain training for healthcare professionals certifications. Currently\, she is a yoga therapist in training with the Institute for Living Yoga. She has 20+ years of experience as a community-based\, social justice educator and is currently a professor at Portland State University\, where she facilitates a capstone course titled Communal Art Practice within a Brain Injury Community in partnership with Brain Injury Connections Northwest. \nShe is interested in offering accessible\, trauma-informed yoga to people who have experienced brain injury or other groups of people who may experience barriers to attending a yoga class. Some of her teaching interests include chair or functional yoga; yoga for anxiety/depression; yoga to address compassion fatigue for healthcare workers\, social service providers\, and social justice leaders and activists; and yoga integrated with art. \nSpace is limited — register now to reserve your spot! \n\n\n \n \n Class Registration\n Sign up below to reserve your spot!
\n\n \n \n Class Registration\n Sign up below to reserve your spot!
