Visceral manipulation is a series of techniques involving repositioning and realigning organs or valves within the abdomen that are causing or contributing to a patient’s symptoms. Some examples of this include ileocecal valve dysfunction (which is a valve between the small and large intestines) which can cause inflammation and pain throughout the body. This can be resolved with visceral manipulation. Other conditions treated with this technique are incontinence issues due to a bladder or uterus that has dropped and hiatal hernia due to acid reflux.
