Body as Ally
My work stems from the belief that our bodies are our greatest ally and are here to support us in living a life of presence and vitality. During a session, I am constantly listening to feedback from your body, either through touch or through guiding you to feel into areas and listening to what comes up. Working with me is a collaboration to help you find your pathway to an innate sense of embodiment. I do this work in service to expanding inner landscapes, creating more space and embodied presence in ourselves, so that we can in turn bring more space and presence to our dreams, relationships, communities, and the world.
Deep Listening and Presence
I believe that pain and discomfort in the body always have an emotional component and need to be heard to be healed. Throughout a session, I may guide you into noticing what comes up as I work, either actively or with gentle holding. I aim to create a relational space that feels safe enough to allow room for messages in the body that are not normally heard, thereby creating space to move on from old stories into new ways of being.
Integrative Bodywork
I approach working with the body through both a physical and energetic lens. Some techniques I might use in a session include myofascial release, connective tissue massage, visceral manipulation, mindful body awareness, gentle holding and shaking, and attuned deep tissue massage that moves at the speed of your nervous system. I work in a way that is both gentle and strives to meet you where you are at.
Education
I studied trauma informed & relational bodywork at the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork, where I learned not only a wide range of effective bodywork modalities through the lens of neuroscience, but also how to cultivate practitioner-client relationships that promote safety and healing. I’ve continued my learning here in Portland at the Moving Mountains Institute, where I studied visceral manipulation. I am an ongoing student of my own body, through my dance and other creative practices.
