2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019
Stephanie Swanson, MAc, LAc, is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Oregon and is nationally certified (NCCAOM) as a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbology. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and minors in Environmental Studies and Spanish from Viterbo University in 2004 and a Master of Acupuncture degree from National University of Natural Medicine in 2011. She is near completion of her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with specialties in women’s health and aging adults from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. For the past eight years, she has been in private practice helping women conceive, progress through pregnancy, prepare for childbirth, greatly improve PCOS and endometriosis, resolve menstrual issues and ease menopause, both in the Portland area and long-distance.
Since giving birth to her daughter, Azure, towards the end of Chinese medical school, Stephanie has been passionate about gynecology and obstetrics. The beautiful emotional and fascinating educational experience of pregnancy and childbirth inspired her to assist others on this journey.
Since 2012, Stephanie has been a fellow of the Hunyuan Institute, a classical Chinese medical institution with a special focus on fertility. This method of classical Chinese herbalism and it’s founder, Dr. Yaron Seidman, are well known for their impressive success rates for the treatment of infertility. Stephanie incorporates this style into her overall approach and feels it is an integral factor in her excellent results with infertility.
Through her doctoral program as well as independent study, Stephanie has spent hundreds of post-graduate educational hours with top Western conventional, naturopathic, and Chinese medical doctors, particularly in the area of women’s health, including mentoring with Chinese medical gynecologist, Dr. Kandace Cahill, Sports Medicine Acupuncture certification with Dr. Whitfield Reaves, and professional certification in Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy with leaders in that field, including Dr. Rosita Arvigo.
Drawing upon her background in ecology, Stephanie looks at the interplay and relationships of all aspects of her patients’ beings with each other and with the outside world to address not only symptoms but also the root cause of her patients’ conditions. Stephanie’s visits include a truly comprehensive look at wellness and a customized treatment plan, which may include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, diet, lifestyle and supplement recommendations, supportive home therapies and qigong instruction, moxibustion, cupping, and/or body work, including Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, shiatsu, and tuina. She works closely with and refers frequently to many doctors and healthcare providers, as she finds a team approach to support often provides greatly increased success rates.
Stephanie is originally from Wisconsin but has lived in Portland, Oregon for 15 years, where she adores the live music and food culture and spending time outdoors. She also loves spending time with her family, hiking, cooking, practicing qigong and traveling.

What her patients say
“Stephanie is such an amazing healer. I always leave my sessions with her feeling so amazing. I recommend her to anyone curious about acupuncture. Her gentle and caring approach is wonderful.”
“I had been seeking out the right practitioner for where I was on my healing journey and when I met Stephanie, I knew she was what I was looking for. Stephanie merges her practical knowledge with her intuitive wisdom and has been highly skilled at knowing what I need from treatment in a given week. Her compassionate nature and genuine curiosity has made me feel like she’s right there with me, doing everything she can to help me overcome my fertility challenges. She spends more time with me than any practitioner I’ve ever worked with and the time she takes just to check my pulses makes me feel like she’s really invested in me and my health. Her holistic approach has helped me think beyond treatment to the choices I’m making on a daily basis that influence my wellbeing. Her support has come in the form of books, tinctures, herbs and very heartfelt and genuine care. I’m very grateful to have found her.”
“I first went to Stephanie because I wanted to quit smoking and nothing else had worked. I had never received acupuncture before and I was a bit skeptical. After just one session and very affordable prescription tea, I experienced no cravings at all. I was amazed at how well the acupuncture and other preventative measures she had me take worked. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment with her.” — Greg
“Stephanie did a great job at putting me at ease, and making me comfortable right from the first session during the pre-evaluation phase. She was very thorough in examining all aspects of my life in order to decide her plan of action for my health, interpersonal relationships, history, and spirituality. Her support of me living a proactive, healthy, well-rounded (holistic) lifestyle has done wonders for me. The next time I see the early signs of acute pain arising, I will not hesitate to go right back to her for treatment.” — Adam
