Kara Powers is a certified yoga therapist and a psychiatrist practicing psychotherapy in Portland. She is also trained in Mindfulness for Emerging Adults and yoga nidra. Throughout the course of her career in mental health, she has worked in community mental health and in college mental health and is currently in private practice. Yoga and meditation have been an integral part of her life for decades, and she is interested in the intersection of these ancient wisdom practices with modern psychology. She has found that the experiential, somatic and spiritual aspects of yoga and meditation offer meansfor self-discovery beyond what is possible in traditional psychotherapy.
Her yoga therapy classes strive to bring awareness to the experience of the mind and body in order to foster a clearer understanding of how they interrelate to create either obstacles or possibilities in life.
