Your wellness journey deserves a practice as unique as you are.
Therapeutic Yoga Services in Portland
Heart Spring Health offers therapeutic yoga to Portland community members who want to feel better in their bodies, minds, and daily lives. Our SE Portland clinic is a place where people show up exactly as they are and leave with a little more ease than they came in with. We built this program around one simple belief: movement heals, and healing takes many forms.
Therapeutic yoga is not a one-size-fits-all fitness class. It draws on classical yoga traditions and adapts them through a clinical, trauma-informed lens. Our instructors design each session to address real physical and emotional needs — whether that means moving slowly through gentle postures, focusing on breath regulation, or simply learning to feel at home in your body again.
What Is Therapeutic Yoga?
Think of therapeutic yoga as the bridge between traditional wellness practices and clinical care. It is intentional, adaptive, and deeply personal. Our instructors carry training in therapeutic technique, anatomy, and trauma-informed teaching. Every session, whether a group class or a one-on-one appointment, reflects that training.
People come to therapeutic yoga for many reasons. Some are working through chronic pain or recovering from injury. Others are managing anxiety, grief, burnout, or the lingering effects of trauma. Many feel disconnected from their bodies and want a gentle, supported way back. And others just want to begin a movement practice! Wherever you are starting from, this practice can meet you there.
Beginner-Friendly Yoga at Heart Spring Health
The word “beginner” gets used loosely in the wellness world. At Heart Spring Health, we take it seriously. Our beginner-friendly yoga classes assume no prior experience, no particular fitness level, and no familiarity with yoga terminology. Instructors introduce every concept from the ground up, offer clear modifications for every posture, and actively encourage questions throughout each session.
We designed our beginner-friendly yoga program specifically to dismantle the intimidation that keeps so many people from ever trying yoga in the first place. You belong here on day one.
Your First Class
Arriving somewhere new can feel vulnerable. We want to make that part as easy as possible. Before your first class, we invite you to complete a brief intake so your instructor understands your background and any areas needing extra care or modification. Sessions run 60 minutes and move at a pace that prioritizes comfort over performance. Afterward, your instructor will check in with you directly — not just as a courtesy, but because your feedback actively shapes what comes next.
We ask our students to show up with curiosity and leave the self-judgment at the door. Everything else we can figure out together.
What Makes Us Different – Designed with Connection in Mind
Our classes are also guaranteed to be small and intimate, so you can truly get to know other participants, and develop an individualized connection with your instructors if you choose. Our instructors are mindful, intuitive, and passionate about delivering what is best for your wellness. They have a shared goal of helping you feel right at home with your preferences for connection or not.
Beyond class size, our approach sets us apart. We root everything we do in clinical knowledge, trauma-informed practice, and genuine human care. Our instructors collaborate with mental health providers, primary care teams, and other wellness professionals. This means your yoga practice can become one meaningful part of a broader, coordinated care plan.
