Amy Peck, Family Nurse Practitioner
Education and Background
Deeply interested in human health and vitality from a young age, I began my career in psychology, studying mental health, ADHD, trauma, addiction and wellness at Lewis & Clark College and Oregon Health & Science University. From there, I moved into medicine, learning everything I could about health and healing via the Western medical model. I first practiced as a registered nurse and specialized in Neonatal ICU care and pediatric specialities. After some time, I returned to school and earned my Masters in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University in 2019 with an emphasis in whole family medicine.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I began working as a primary care provider (PCP) with a focus on immigrant health, women’s health, as well as mental health. I learned the ins and outs of the Western medical system and developed skills in caring for a broad range of individuals across the lifespan. In 2022, I began working as an urgent care provider treating critical conditions as well as fulfilling a deep need for immediate access to healthcare for many who simply could not get in to see their regular PCPs. In both primary care and urgent care, I helped patients navigate complex medical issues in a convoluted medical system.
Shifting Gears
After working in healthcare for eleven years and noticing the limitations therein, I made my way into the yogic world and found meditation, plant medicine, and the healing power of connection and community. In 2024, I became a certified yoga instructor and began leading women’s health workshops to cultivate vitality, health, and wellbeing. With greater access to my own strength, passion, and zest for medicine and life, I return now to the practice of medicine with a fresh approach: Slow Medicine.
I come to you with a decade of academic knowledge, knowing how and when to spot the critical issues and how to resolve them. I bring with me thirteen years of patient care both at the bedside and in and out of exam rooms.
It is my belief that we are beautiful beings in human form in a body. It is my belief that no one is alone, truly, in whatever they are experiencing. And these bodies, our bodies, while often a source of pleasure and bliss, are also vessels in need of maintenance, repair and tenderness.
How I Work
Curiosity first. I need to hear your stories. We will go from there. Let’s find slow medicine together. Let’s talk and get to know one another. Let’s make a plan and follow the steps at our own cadence. Wherever you’ve been, I want to know. Wherever you want to go, I want to be by your side. Together we can work to cultivate your health goals, create a plan, and then work together toward those goals. Sessions can be paced as you desire, allowing spaciousness and flexibility for you to work toward your goals, while also having support and accountability. We will fine-tune and adjust together as we work together and as your needs change.
