For Healthcare Providers

Referring a Patient

We welcome physical therapy referrals from naturopathic physicians, medical and osteopathic physicians, nurse practitioners, primary care clinicians, specialists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and other healthcare professionals across Portland.

Our goal is to complement your care, not replace it. With patient authorization, we share evaluation findings, goals, progress, and recommendations with referring providers.

Physical Therapy FAQ

Will physical therapy be painful?

Some exercises may cause mild, temporary discomfort as your body adapts, but treatment should not make your pain significantly worse. Your therapist adjusts everything to your comfort, so let them know how you feel.

Will physical therapy be difficult?

Your program starts where you are today and progresses gradually as you get stronger. The goal is steady progress, never more than your body is ready for.

How long will physical therapy take?

It depends on your condition, goals, and how your body responds. Your therapist will talk through an expected timeline at your first visit and revisit it as you progress.

Do I need to use other Heart Spring Health services?

No. You can come in for physical therapy only. If other care would help, we can coordinate it, and we are happy to work with your current providers.

What training do physical therapists have?

Physical therapists complete a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program with supervised clinical training. They also pass national and state licensing exams and complete continuing education to keep their license.
