Collaborative Therapy Tailored to You

I’m Katie, a clinical social worker based in Portland, Oregon. I provide counseling for individuals from young adulthood through the later years of life, supporting clients through the unique challenges and transitions that arise at every stage.

Katie RidgewayI believe healing happens through connection; connection to ourselves, to our bodies, and to the people who matter most. When we understand the connection between the mind and body, we can begin to heal not only our thoughts and emotions, but also the ways our experiences have shaped our nervous system and overall well-being. Therapy offers a space to better understand your experiences, develop greater self-awareness, and strengthen the internal resources needed to move forward with greater resilience and authenticity.

Whether you are seeking support for trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, parenting, or a significant life transition, my goal is to provide a compassionate, collaborative environment where you feel safe to explore, heal, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My Approach

I am a trauma informed, collaborative therapist. I view therapy through an attachment-focused, person-centered, and relational lens. Humans are wired for connection, and our relationships, with ourselves and others, play a powerful role in our healing.

I believe we all have the capacity for growth, resilience, and change. Whether your journey is self-directed or prompted by life’s challenges, I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, understood, and empowered.

Together, we build on your existing strengths while developing the internal and external resources needed to support your healing journey.

EMDR Therapy

I am an EMDR Certified therapist. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process distressing experiences that continue to affect their daily lives. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer carry the same emotional, and sometimes physical, intensity.

EMDR can be effective for trauma, anxiety, grief, difficult life experiences, and other concerns rooted in overwhelming or unresolved events. I thoughtfully integrate EMDR into treatment when it aligns with a client’s goals, always ensuring a strong foundation of safety, coping skills, and emotional readiness before beginning trauma processing.
